The game kicked off in the full heat of the afternoon sun and it wasn’t just the sun that was hot, within 2 minutes
the hooligan’s Thomas and the Pirate’s Mark Flores soon clashed in the midfield with a crunching 50-50, this set
the trend for the rest of the game. Although this was billed as a friendly it
soon can apparent there was going to be no prisoners.
For the first 20 minutes the game was mainly played out in the midfield with the occasional attack by both teams
and either defence dealt with these comfortably. However the Hooligans got a
corner on the 21st minute and Lee Baines sent in a tremendous ball which left the Pirates right back no choice
but to close his eyes and try to head the ball clear, unfortunately for him straight into the back of his own net. This was met with a massive roar of celebration from the Hooligans faithful but even a more massive roar
of laughter from the Pirates team and bench. The game then carried on in the
midfield with few chances until on the 41st minutes a long hopeful ball went over the top of the Hooligan’s
defence straight to the Pirates striker 1-1.
Half Time
The second half saw the Hooligans take control and after a few good attacks the Hooligans took the lead again with
a well-worked move that included most of the team and Chris “subtitles” coolly finishing off.
2-1
The following ten minutes the Pirates were camped in their half and chance after chance missed. The pirates defence were resolute and Pepe “who ate all the Pies” Reina pulled off some
great saves. When asked how he got down to save one certain goal he replied “Ritchie
put a hamburger in each corner of the goal to make me get down quicker”
