Goals: Chrissy 2
LOS Hooligans suffered their first defeat of the campaign last Saturday going down 5-2 to a well organised and
hard working Centro Jardines Alfabia (AKA Los Coņoneros).
CJA were on a high for the match after their midweek 3-3 draw against Liga favourites La Luna and their confidence
showed with them taking an early 1-0 lead. Los Hooligans soon pulled it back though and the two teams battled hard to gain
the upper hand.
For much of the match there wasn’t much between the two teams, but CJA’s attacking midfielder Juan
Antonio Quetglas made all the difference and his quick feet and hat-trick eventually got the better of Los Hooligans. CJA
had done their homework and marshalled Chrissy “Subtitles” Barr up front with two defenders for most of the game.
Even so, Subtitles still managed to knock in a brace and keep his phenomenal goal scoring record intact and bid for La Liga
Pichichi on track. There was another strong display in defence from Gareth “Fantasy Golf” Anwell, although gaffer
George will be worried by the amount of goals Los Hooligans are leaking. 21 goals conceded in 5 games does not make good reading!
Los Hooligans sorely missed their club mascot, “Tramp” John (away on family duty) and his head scratching
which normally creates the only atmosphere around the ground.
Unbeaten CJA go joint top of the table with the also unbeaten La Luna, who hammered former Liga leaders Instalaciones
Simac 8-3 in their top of the table clash. Instalaciones Simac drop two places to third, while Los Hooligans drop to fourth.
CJA’s website http://www.jjzoso.com/ekipo speaks highly of the way Los Hooligans played and the spirit in which we played the match and
we can only return the compliment as CJA are perhaps the fairest team we have played so far this season, with none of the
nonsense diving and rolling around we have seen from many of the teams.
Saturday’s match against F.C. Dynamic Centre will be important as Los Hooligans attempt to get their title chase
back on track. Although lying in 10th place in La Liga, Dynamic should not be underestimated. Los Hooligans will
be missing “El Capitan”
Thommodinho through injury, while Stevie “Don’t call me Colgate” Griffiths
is away on international duty with South Wales under-12 boys side.
Matty is doubtful with a leg injury, while Jo “Sod this for a Laugh” Devenny is unlikely to feature
after storming off the bench midway during Saturday’s defeat. His actions may win him the hotly contested “Pierre
van Hooijdonk” award which was until Saturday being led by Jamie “Kebab” Kerr for two weeks of incessant
moaning. Jamie turned things round though on Saturday with a full 40 minutes of not moaning and a hard working performance.
As Los Hooligans will find out on Saturday, football is a squad game and everyone needs to play their part. With
this weekend’s long MIA list it will be vital gaffer George keeps the troops in order.
Los Hooligans, however, will be boosted by the welcome return of Lee “In Confidence” Bourke who returns
from his three week scouting trip to Florida.
