The Hooligans flew to the top of the league with an impressive and well deserved victory on the opening day of the league fixtures!!!!

The day the boys have been eagerly waiting for had finally arrived.  The buzz around the ground was electric, the crowd was expecting a festival of football and they were not going to be disappointed.

The gaffer decided to go bold and play two strikers, Chris and Richie, up front, with Stevie G being asked to do the lone midfield role.  This courageous decision paid off with the Hooligans racing into the lead with a well taken goal from Chris.  Stevie G ran his socks off in the middle to support the front boys and it didn’t take for long for the second goal, when Steve himself broke through the defence and shot past the keeper to put the hooligans 2 up.  The crowd were in heaven!!!

CD Bahia were no mug outfit and put our defence under a lot of pressure but the boys stood firm with some outstanding tackles and blocks.  Paul making a number of cracking saves to keep the score 2 –0.

The attacking football continued and the goal of the game came when Jamie pulled down the ball and drove the ball a fully 45 yards into the roof of the net, leaving their keeper on his arse.

Half time came with the hooligans 5-1 up.

The second half was a different game(you could say a game of two halves).  The referee who been very good in the first then gave every decision to CD Bahia, any tackles we made were punished with a free kick, this gave Paul a difficult spell and he was again called to make some good saves.  But the opposition were encouraged and they got the score back to 6-5.  Their fans and players were going crazy, CD Bahia really thought they could pull it back and then go on to win the game.

George callously hacked down their striker and was lucky to only get a yellow card, Gareth also got a yellow for a typical sliding tackle that got the ball, the player, the bench and the front row of the stand.

Still under immense pressure and the defence tackling even harder Chris received the ball on the wing after another cracking tackle form Gareth. Chris took on two defenders and with the keeper racing off his line he coolly slipped the ball into the far corner.  The Hooligan and their fans went mad, our bench was on the pitch.
