Another friendly 14th October 2006,
Due to the internationals in the week it was agreed
that the league would be postponed to the weekend 21st October. Although
the fixtures didn’t affect the other teams too much it had stripped the Hooligans to the core with all the players being
called up for international duty.
The morning of the game.
Full marks for the organising this time, everyone
were on time and had their kits, the injury list was short, Lee “In Confidence” Bourke had taken a knock
to his knee in a challenge against Croatia on Wednesday. Dave “Spongebob”
and Chris “Subtitles” were unavailable. The hangover list was empty.
The opposition, La Luna, were the bookies favourites
to win the league and it didn’t take long to see why, within 15 minutes La Luna were 4 goals up. The hooligans defence
being pulled apart by some very good off the ball running from the La Luna’s strikers and midfield. Half time couldn’t come any quicker and the Hooligans were happy to go in at the break just 6-0 down. The mid week internationals had really taken their toll and the hooligans were very
tired.
The second half began and with an inspirational
half time team talk from the gaffer the boys were raring to go and win the game, we lost 12-0.
Tommo “Tommodinho” is now on the goal list with a cracking own goal from 20 yards at least.
Still not to rest on their laurels the hooligans were back in training on Friday, and a good
session was had.
